In recognition of its extraordinary biodiversity, the Valley of Flowers was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.

Best itinerary for the Valley of Flowers trek over 6 days.
Your journey starts from Haridwar. You could arrive by train, air or road. Spend the day exploring the local sights like the Har ki Pauri Ghat, Mansa Devi Temple, and others, or rest for the day in preparation for the trek.
Drive from Haridwar to Joshimath (approximately 9 to 10 hours), passing through beautiful riverside locations like Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, and Nandprayag. Spend the night in Joshimath.
Drive from Joshimath to Govindghat (1 hour), which is the starting point of the trek. Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria (approximately 13 km). This route will take you along the river, through forests and beautiful meadows. Stay overnight at Ghangaria.
Trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers (approximately 4-5 km). Spend the day exploring the valley, its rich flora, and capturing the breathtaking views. By evening, trek back to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.
The 5th day is usually reserved for a trek to Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh pilgrimage site with a serene lake and temple. The distance is approximately 6 km each way and involves a steep climb. After exploring and spending time at Hemkund Sahib, return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.
On the sixth day, trek back to Govindghat and from there, drive back to Joshimath. This marks the end of the trekking part.
The next morning, drive back from Joshimath to Haridwar. The trip ends once you reach Haridwar.
